FLASH-COMP has joined the influential 4ZDM cluster, a group made up of projects working towards Zero Defects Manufacturing (ZDM). The cluster has brought together projects from the EU funding programme as far back as FP7 as well as including newly started projects from Horizon Europe, like Flash-Comp.
The objective of the cluster is to bring like-minded researchers, industry, and policy makers together to identify cross-cutting issues and share insights and discoveries that will lead to more viable results for all involved.
The cluster involves projects focused on a wide range of approaches to ZDM, including autonomous and self-adaptive systems for process monitoring, control and quality management; system approaches for monitoring and data processing of dimensional fluctuations; efficient simulation tools and methods to predict machining system behaviour.
As well as helping those involved to define the state of the art in ZDM, the cluster also highlights this work through the publication of white papers and position papers on new industrial trends. 4ZDM events are also part of the cluster remit, where ideas can be shared, and cutting-edge results promoted to relevant industry through workshops and networking opportunities.
The 4ZDM is at the heart of Europe’s ZDM culture and central to the development of a vibrant ecosystem that will help drive the technological solutions that will ultimately make European industry more efficient and greener, while at the same time helping to drive the EU research agenda in the future.
